garden experience

i stayed another night at this old house in parkland and got the chance to help out in the garden! there was rain almost all day yesterday, but today the sun is shining! we planted kale and beet starts that ruth had gotten at Fresh Fridays. i spread some chips on a path and helped with the compost/worm bin situation. i've gotten to pick tons of strawberries from the plants my brother lucas, ruth's son in law, brought from lopez island. it is nice to think he and i are connected by helping out in the same garden.
i want to help out like this wherever i go.

  1. this comment may come too late for you to stop in and see the biggest woodstove ever.....it is in the old hotel across from train station in Centralia. This place has been restored, much left in tact such as the woodstove that warmed loggers 100 years ago and is owned by McMinnemins (sp?) chain out of Oregon. All their places are fun to explore. They are big recyclers!
